Trek Itinerary

Day 1:

Cusco – Capuliyoc – Chiquisca – Santa Rosa

• Early morning departure from Cusco by private transport to Capuliyoc (2,915 m), the trailhead for the trek.

• Begin the hike with breathtaking views of the Apurímac Canyon and surrounding mountains.

• Descend to Chiquisca (1,900 m), where you’ll stop for lunch.

• Continue the trek to Santa Rosa (2,100 m), a rustic campsite where you’ll spend the night.

Day 2:

Santa Rosa – Marampata – Choquequirao-Marampata

• Start the day with a steep ascent to Marampata (2,850 m), a small village with stunning views of the Choquequirao complex.

• Continue hiking to reach Choquequirao (3,033 m), often referred to as the “Sister City of Machu Picchu.”

• Spend the afternoon exploring the main plaza, terraces, and ceremonial areas of this impressive archaeological site.

• Overnight camping near the ruins, with the opportunity to see a beautiful sunset over the site.

Day 3:

Marampata– Santa Rosa – Chiquisca

• Begin the descent back to Santa Rosa for lunch.

• Continue descending to Chiquisca, where you’ll camp for the night.

• Distance: 14 km (8.7 miles).

• Trek duration: 6–7 hours.

Day 4:

Chiquisca – Capuliyoc – Cusco

• Early ascent from Chiquisca to Capuliyoc, retracing your steps while enjoying the last views of the canyon and Padreyoc snow-capped peak.

• Return to Cusco by private transport, arriving in the late afternoon.

• Distance: 8 km (5 miles).

• Trek duration: 4–5 hours.
