Day 1: Cusco – Sacred Valley – Aguas Calientes
•Pick-up in Cusco: The adventure begins early, around 7:30 a.m., with pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. From there, you’ll travel in a comfortable tourist bus through the stunning Andean landscapes, making your way to the first stop of the day.
•Visit to Pisac: Your first destination is the charming town of Pisac, famous for its impressive Inca ruins perched on the hillside. These ruins feature vast agricultural terraces and a unique water irrigation system. After exploring the archaeological site, you’ll head to the Pisac market, where you can browse and purchase beautiful handmade crafts, jewelry, and textiles created by local artisans.
•Journey through the Sacred Valley: As you continue your journey, you’ll travel through the breathtaking Sacred Valley, known for its fertile lands and picturesque villages. The valley is surrounded by towering mountains and offers incredible photo opportunities along the way.
•Lunch in Urubamba: Around midday, you’ll stop in the town of Urubamba to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. The meal includes a variety of traditional Peruvian dishes, such as quinoa, roasted meats, fresh vegetables, and tasty desserts, all prepared with locally sourced ingredients.
•Visit to Ollantaytambo: After lunch, you’ll explore the magnificent archaeological complex of Ollantaytambo. This site served as a strategic military, religious, and agricultural center for the Incas. You’ll marvel at its massive stone terraces, ceremonial fountains, and the iconic Temple of the Sun. The town itself is one of the best-preserved Inca settlements, with cobblestone streets and ancient water channels still in use.
•Train to Aguas Calientes: In the late afternoon, you’ll board a scenic train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. During the approximately 1 hour and 50-minute ride, you’ll enjoy stunning views of the lush Urubamba River valley and surrounding mountains.
•Overnight in Aguas Calientes: Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, you’ll check into your hotel and have the evening free to relax, explore the town, or enjoy dinner at one of its many restaurants. Rest well to prepare for an exciting day ahead.
Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
•Early morning ascent to Machu Picchu: The day starts early as you take a short bus ride up the winding road to the entrance of Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Arriving early allows you to witness the mystical sunrise over the ancient city, a truly unforgettable experience.
•Guided tour of Machu Picchu: Once inside, you’ll embark on a guided tour of the citadel, lasting approximately two hours. Your knowledgeable guide will lead you through the main sectors, including the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana (Sun Dial), the Main Square, and the residential and agricultural areas. They will share fascinating stories about Inca culture, the engineering marvels of the site, and its historical significance.
•Free time to explore: After the guided tour, you’ll have some free time to wander at your own pace, take stunning photos, or hike to additional viewpoints like the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) or the Inca Bridge for breathtaking panoramic views.
•Return to Aguas Calientes: After soaking in the wonders of Machu Picchu, you’ll descend by bus back to Aguas Calientes. Here, you can enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (not included) and explore the town’s vibrant markets
